Sustainability
The idea of sustainability starts with a belief in the future, with confidence and a commitment to progress and protecting the environment. Villanti has never been interested in short cuts or half measures - we've been looking to the future since the day our first shop opened in 1959.
At Villanti, we believe that craftsmanship requires and includes a careful consideration of the impact of our work on the planet.
We are proud to have been the first printer in Vermont (and the ninth in all of North America) to be certified by FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®). FSC is a non-profit organization devoted to encouraging the responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC sets high standards that ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way.
Our team is incredibly excited about our most recent initiative- the addition of solar power. We've committed to solar in a big way. The solar array on our rooftop is one of the largest in Vermont.
All of the inks we use at Villanti are free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs are bad news: for people, the workplace or home, and the environment.
We have taken significant steps over the years to reduce the amount of waste produced by the printing process. All waste paper, including office paper, bindery scraps, and make-ready sheets, are recycled, along with all plastic, wood, and metal.
Ensuring the health of our planet is more than simply the right thing to do: it's good business. Just as, for nearly 65 years, we have never stopped trying to become better printers, we will continue to do all we can to expand and improve our eco-friendly practices over the months, years, and decades to come.
